Note that command:

   $ cat /proc/pps/sources

Sentence «as this driver supplies both the GPS time and the PPS signal
to ntpd» is not true.

NTPD drivers collect two type of data: PPS signals and GPS time. In
your system, for example, the NMEA driver reads GPS time from the
serial line and it reads PPS data from LinuxPPS (which in turn, gets
the signal from the same serial line too).
