At http://wiki.enneenne.com/index.php/LinuxPPS_support I read:
Ok, now the PPS support is active and you can try using the ppstest (as root) into in order to verify if you get the PPS signal.
Before doing it you should verify if your system has proper char device files into /dev directory, if so you should have something like this:
giometti at zaigor:~/linux/kernel/Documentation/pps$ ls -l /dev/pps*
crw-rw-r-- 1 root dialout 253, 0 Aug 8 18:58 /dev/pps0
crw-rw-r-- 1 root dialout 253, 1 Aug 8 18:58 /dev/pps1
Now I do not have these devices and also:
belle:/home/folkert# ls -l /dev | grep 253
crw-rw---- 1 root root 253, 0 2008-01-13 16:12 usbdev1.1_ep00
crw-rw---- 1 root root 253, 1 2008-01-13 16:12 usbdev1.1_ep81
crw-rw---- 1 root root 253, 2 2008-01-13 16:12 usbdev2.1_ep00
...
As you can see those major/minors are taken by usb devices - is the pps
patch udev-aware?
