[LinuxPPS] Timers in pps-gpio and pps_parport

Hi all,
while trying to incorporate a timer into the pps-gpio and pps_parport  
drivers, I have noticed that there used to be a variable in the timer  
struct (timer_list) that could hold some data (unsigned long data).   
This is still present in the Raspberry Pi kernel but absent in the  
latest kernel.  It appears that it disappeared about October 22 last  
year.

Is there a new/different way of getting data into the callback  
function that I have missed?
